HEALTH & SAFETY
All golfers are warned that walkers, cyclists and horse riders use the footpaths and bridleways that cross the course. THEY MUST BE GIVEN RIGHT OF WAY on the following holes.
- Bridleway: holes 4, 5, 8, 9, 10 & 14.
- Footpaths: holes 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, 10 & 11.
Vehicles and pedestrians using the limited access road to Warren Farm across the 16th and 17th fairways must also be given the right of way.
Methods of Stopping and Resuming Play (Rule 5)
A suspension of play for a dangerous situation will be signalled by a prolonged Klaxon blast; players MUST stop play and make their way to the clubhouse.
All other suspensions will be signalled by several short Klaxon blasts.
Resumption of play will be signalled by a prolonged Klaxon blast.
LOCAL RULES
Dropping Zones (Rule 14)
There are dropping zones on the 1st, 7th and 15th holes as an extra relief option for the red penalty areas. Please use the closest drop zone.
Ball Deflected by Power Line (Rule 14) – Holes 16 and 17
If it is known or virtually certain that a player’s ball hit a power line or telegraph pole, the player MUST play a ball without penalty from where the previous stroke was made.
Abnormal Course Conditions (including Immovable Obstructions) (Rule 16)
Free relief is allowed when the ball touches or lies in or on an abnormal course condition or the condition interferes with the area of intended stance or swing.
Abnormal Course Conditions include:
- Animal Holes (see Definitions for details)
- Bells
- Immovable Obstructions (including drainage trenches filled to ground level with fragments of stone)
- Temporary Water
Ground Under Repair (G.U.R) and Temporary Greens (Rule 16)
G.U.R is defined by any area encircled by a white line. Relief MUST be taken from G.U.R where a notice is in place and on temporary greens.
Immovable Obstructions Close to Putting Greens (Rule 16) – Sprinkler Heads
When a ball lies in the general area and there is interference on the line of play from an immovable obstruction which is within two club lengths of the putting green AND within two club lengths of the ball, the player MAY take free relief under Rule 16.1b.
Animal Hoof Damage (Rule 16)
Damage that is clearly identifiable as having been caused by animal hoofs is an abnormal course condition from which free relief is allowed.
Roads and Paths (Rule 16)
All artificially surfaced roads and paths on the course are treated as immovable obstructions from which free relief is allowed.
No Play Zones (Rule 16) – Staked Trees
Staked trees are abnormal course conditions. If a staked tree interferes with the player’s stance or area of intended swing, or a player’s ball lies on or touches a staked tree, free relief MUST be taken.
Out of Bounds (Rule 18.2)
A ball is out of bounds when all of it lies beyond white stakes and fence posts, or any fence or hedge bounding the course, or on the car park or in the Pump House on the 4th hole.
WINTER RULES
Details will be posted on the notice board outside the Pro Shop and in the clubhouse when in operation.
