Junior Academy Dates and Junior Membership Info

The Elgar Academy:

We currently run 3 groups of Academy tuition each week. Thursday evenings for intermediates and beginners. This is where we focus mainly on developing short game skills with a variety of practice drills mixed with some
fun games.

Saturday Intermediate group 2 is where we focus on transitioning into long game, this is the stage where some intermediate golfers will begin to play in some 9-hole competitions.

Advanced group on a Sunday morning which consists of more experienced players and progressing juniors who have their first handicaps. The advanced group mainly work on a technique and swing drills.

The times for which are:

Beginner class – Thursday – 5pm – 6pm

Intermediate class – Saturdays – 1pm – 2pm

Advanced class – Sundays – 11am – 12pm

You must be a member of the club to participate in the intermediate and advanced groups.

The cost of each session is £5 per child.

Communication:

We are insisting this year to platform all communications through a Whatsapp portal.
This will be set up as a group to receive information regarding anything going on in the club instantly. In order to safeguard the junior’s, we will insist on the parent/guardian’s number. The application is free to download and runs off wi-fi or mobile data which incurs no cost. If there is any reason the academy can not run on a certain day there will be a message put out on the WhatsApp group

Junior 1st Team

This season the Worcestershire golf club will be entering in the Mercian junior league 2024. To be selected to play in the team you must have the following requirements:

  • Under the age of 18, have a handicap, have 10 or more rounds
  • recorded, be a full member of the club.

What you will receive if you are selected to play in the team.

  • Heavily discounted 1 to 1 coaching
  • Free team clothing
  • Free meal after the match
  • Chance to play various courses for free

You must be selected by either the Junior Captain, Junior Organiser or Junior Development Coach

Cadet Membership (up the age 14):

£88 for the year

  • Full use of all practice & clubhouse facilities.
  • Enables the junior to play 6 9-hole rounds or 3 18-hole rounds in order to gain a handicap (must be accompanied by an adult)

Full Junior Member (up to the age of 16)

  • £172.50 for the year (including union fees)
  • All the benefits of Cadet and Intermediate
  • Entitles the member to play anytime throughout the year.
  • Enables the junior to hold a handicap and play in competitions.
  • Entitles the member to hold a levy card.
  • Entitles the member to play in adult competitions.

*Juniors must be 12 years or older to play on the course on their own, otherwise they are to be accompanied by an adult.
